Just gone back to 2.70 from 3.40.
In Nav Mode 3.40 was great almost perfect but i still had that thing in the back of my mind about Map Mode - white screens occassionally and the map failing to update even though it still alerted to camera, the road names and speed updated accurately.
2.70 plus the new voice (clearer) is just fine for me.... |

Just an update, learnt the hard way with 3.40. It is very bad with the freezing on 0% when calculating a route and had to power off then on again. I Went back to 2.70 and everything runs greats again with no freezing.
Did the same balls up with the voice (British) updating, sounds better speech wise but very quiet compared to the old one, so restored old one.
Stick with 2.70 and avoid voice updating |

The new voice is fine - just turn it up to 5. If you can't hear it on 5 you will be doing yourself permanent hearing damage anyway |

I assume your referring to the cig power as via batteries the volume difference is way to much compared to the old one.
If anyone wants the old one (without the horrible recalculation voice), click link below.

Yeah always use it plugged in. Never realised the difference was that great without it plugged in |

Has anyone any experience of interim firmware update prformance e.g 2.9 through to 3.3? I've just reverted to 2.7 from 3.4 and performance has improved dramatically - sub 30 second satellite locks, my i3s like new again - but would like to benefit from some of the claimed upgrade improvements. |

@CJ57
Exactly the same, went from 3.2 to 3.4 and that was more like a virus than a update. Slow sat locks, freezing on 0%, map lagging (ie turn corners and the map shows you have not moved for a short while then updates). Went to 2.7 and it is like a totally different sat nav.
Better to stick with 2.7 than play Russian roulette with the firmware as the so-called improvements are just not worth the grief and time spent with trial and error.. |

2.7 all the way... |

Ive tried a couple of the newer firmwares on my I3 & they are always fine for a week or 2 & then the problems start.
I always ended up rolling back to version 2.7 & now ive just stuck with it as it doesnt give any problems at all. _________________ Garmin I3

I have to say, I've always updated to the latest version all the way along, and I've never had any problems. |
