TomTom 9821x Bluetooth reciever stoped working

After having many years of mostly faithful service my 9821x receiver has stooped working. The problem is it switches on but the green led, which normally flashes to indicates whether or not it has sat reception, is continuously on and the blue bluetooth led does not come on at all.
I thought this might have been a firmware problem so have tried disconnecting battery in the hope it may reset, but no luck there.

This problem occurred while removing it from the in car cradle while it was turned on. I have had this problem happen a few times before but it is usually resolved by turning unit of and turning on again.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is it easily repairable or should I just bite the bullet and buy a new receiver?
