I am looking for a map of europe that I can use when flying on holiday just to see where abouts we are in the air. I don't need a very detailed map, just something like a road atlas. Does anyone know of such a map & where i could get a copy. If there is not one available, is there a way to make such a map.
Vito do an application which runs their vector maps. The app is $29 or so, and the maps are less than 5$. They don't have one of Europe, but at that price, it shouldn't cost the earth to cover the countries you need.

Hi John,
You can download the European Edition of MM from their website and use it to import and calibrate self-scanned maps, using the normal MM OS license (not the Discoverer license which comes with the IGN and National Parks products). Details in the MM Help file, but ask if you need more assistance.
Maybe you can find an acceptable map to scan (e.g. in a flight magazine), but calibrating it well may take some effort. Something I'd been planning to do myself, but the airlines I've used recently have disallowed the use of any GPS .

I was going to get Memory Maps (school Atlas) map of Europe for exactly the same reason to use on my O2 Orbit XDA phone.

I thought all MM Maps came with a Europe 'overview' map? That's what I've used in the past.
However, as always, I should caution you about the use of GPS in flight. In the past I've taken my chances but with the current security situation that could get you in a lot of trouble. Few airlines permit use of GPS and unless you get permission you really shouldn't be using one. _________________ Darren Griffin - Editor
