|

This is probably a glaringly obvious question but I'll go with it anyway.
To cut a long story short, my trusty Go 300 got nicked whilst on holiday in the US just last week and on the way back I bought a ONE XL to replace it. Looks quite familiar albeit I've got to set the damn thing up again but the main question is..........
Which speed camera database do I use from this site? The options appear to be OV2 files or Tom Tom Home files and, whilst the old 300 had OV2 files all though it I don't see any on the SD card for the ONE XL.
Can someone fill me in please.....
Cheers

Use exactly the same database as you used with the 300 - whatever you were good at, you're still an expert with the ONE XL. _________________ Dennis

Thanks guys. I'll do that just now.
I also have a bunch of .OGG files on my PC hard drive which I think were upgraded sound warnings that could be applied to the speed camera ones. Do I need to use them with this version? If so, I seem to recall I had to change the OGG extension name to something else but can't for the life of me remember to what......

The .OGG files must have the same name as the camera and the bitmap, except ending with .OGG. Do NOT change the file extension. If I were cleverer, I'd give you the link which will tell you how to install and activate the .ogg spoken warnings. Never mind, somebody else will be along in two shakes and all will be revealed.
You end up with, for each camera in your map folder, an .OV2 file, a .BMP file and an .OGG file. That's enough hints for now - go get your expert's hat on and do the business! _________________ Dennis

Bob, the FAQ page item #5 should show you what is needed and provides a link to the ogg download page on this site where you can download a selection of spoken files that are correctly named to match the various speed camera downloads - make sure if you are using the Speed Zoned database that you select an OGG file download that coresponds with the POI set.
Dennis - you need to keep some of these links stored local on that expensive mac book - Mike |

Trouble is right now I'm struggling to learn how to type on it and click things - super new expensive MacBook Pro 17s are very sophisticated, much more than 15" ones, you know. Plus my new electric string hasn't arrived yet, so I have to be economical with the battery! Besides which, what would you do if I did have all the links and gave them to people? All that would be left for you would be to go doing screwdriver stuff to your car and sundry gps devices and getting new toys with shades. When you come to think of it, I'm doing you a favour really!! 8)
PLUS, when I start doing the link stuff I'll say "Number" instead of ??? - HEY, I haven't got one on this keyboard Where the heck do I get one from? - the stew key? I paid a couple of grand for this and it hasn't got the stupid American number key which I never use. _________________ Dennis

Oh come on, why are you still using the keyboard? - voice activation and speech to text is the way forwards - I might be about to dabble in the Mac Book arena as I am fed up with the current laptop, but does the Apple device do voice activated ? - Mike |

I'm still trying to do electric activated - down to 53% battery now
Anyway, it's got a microphone, would that do it do you think? I recorded (badly, but successfully if that isn't an oxymoron) grandchildren for .ogg camera warnings if that means anything. Anyway, how would it find a stew key - would I say "stew key"? Or if I said "number" would it type # ?
Anyway, must go now - have to send an e-mail to myself (for desktop PC upstairs) to attach the new .oggs - not enough battery to trust transferring them from here. _________________ Dennis
