ok - i went out walking with somebody at the weekend who was using his memorymap-ce. it looked good but............

routes were planned on the pc and then sent to the ppc - no problems there with sending the route to the ppc. once at the area of walking another couple of routes were drawn up on the ppc itself. all the routes showed up fine on the ppc whether created on pc or the ppc...... then a mini disaster/large pain....... the ppc locked up as happens and there was nothing for it but to put the stylus into the reset button. after this memorymap was fired up again and all the routes had disappeared!!! - after much cursing/swearing the routes from the pc only could be reloaded by searching in file explorer and tapping the "userdata" file in the memorymap directory - however it seemed that there was no way to recover the routes that had been input on the ppc itself - it seemed rather odd that there is no option to save the routes to a file on the ppc so that these could be reloaded - this is surely critical if a reset has to be performed (and as we all know sometimes it just does!).
so, in a nutshell - does anybody know a way of saving routes created on the ppc? (yes you can save to a pc BUT this is no use if you are nowhere near the pc for an amount of time - ie walking). the same applies for any tracked routes you may have walked and "recorded" - can these be saved to a file on the ppc as i assume these would also be lost following a reset also.
many thanks for any help on this.

hmmm ive been looking on the various webistes about - it would appear that indeed you can send the information to a desktop pc - unfortunately if you have to do a rest before getting home you will loose all the route information!!! is this correct? (surely there must be a temoporary backup file???)

All you need to do is to select 'menu' and then 'exit' once you have created your routes. The routes are now saved in the user data file. Now go back into the software and if you have a lock up now your routes are safe.
