Sadly I think my i3 is done for. While using it, just as it started to give a direction to turn, it made a sqawking sound, and has been silent since then. I even hard reset it and cleared all data. No beeps, no voice, not even when changing the volume in settings.
Unless someone has an idea, I guess I'll soon be finding out how good the warranty is in Australia |

Yes, it was running on the USB lead actually, when it died. |

Try switching the unit to another voice (note this can take some time) once complete try it out, then switch the voice back to the one you use normally. Go to Settings/ Language/ Voice Language - switch it to American English first then back to British English, unless you have a "Sheila" type installed - Mike |

Try what has been suggested above - if that doesn't cure it, suspect a hardware fault and get onto Garmin. Their customer support is absolutely first-rate.
I've had two units fail like this - the first went all croaky over a week or so before failing completely, and the second went croaky and got replaced before it died altogether. |

I just rang the store where I purchased it. As it failed, one day short of a month old, they will handle the warranty (probably just means they will send it back to Garmin for me)
I will send the rubber windscreen mount back as well, as it has started to perish and stick black bits of rubber to my windscreen already ! |

Good news. They had a 30 day replacement warranty. I now have a new unit. |

Some people in the UK had a similar problem during the very hot weather (for us!) this summer.
Could you use the adhesive disc somewhere on the dash rather than putting the mount on the windscreen, where it obviously gets extremely hot? Or buy a separate mount system like the Brodit?
Pleased to hear they replaced the unit. :D _________________ Anita

I used some silicone rubber glue to attach the old one to my Windscreen, and for now it is very firmly attached (I didn't give it back with the faulty unit). If it let's go, I will have to find a better location, as you suggested. It does get VERY hot here at times, and we are just now heading into our hot season. |

Luckily it isn't so bad, especially where I usually park. But it's getting worse, and there will come a day when we will be just as bad |
