I have an iPAC 3870 Nav System with Copilot 3.5 which works well but my UK map is increasingly out of date, new bypasses etc are missing. Is there any way to get a UK map update without investing £177.58 with Teamwarrior for the Copilot 4.0 software? I have switched the livewire bit off as I found it not very helpful but the navigation side is fine but a bit out of date.
Thanks |

Not sure what answer you expect. Each vendor has a different policy for map updates, but they all have one in common - they need to charge for it to survive. You may not like it, but that's what they call business model...
If you have bought your 3.x just before 4.x came out then you may try to negotiate a better rate. but it's been a while since 4.x is out, and I'd guess the chances are slim. _________________ Lutz

I fully understand that vendors need to make money to survive and that one way to do this is to charge for updates but a business model that makes a consumer feel that the vendor is abusing their relationship with their loyal customers by not offering simple updates at a reasonable price is flawed. It may give the vendor some short term gain but is not sustainable in the longer term, customers do not stay with vendors who do not offer value for money or who abuse their apparent monopoly. If you do not want the added features £177 to up date the UK map is excessive. When I purchased the product I did so under the impression that Copilot would offer me map updates at a reasonable price.
My instinctive response is to look for another vendor, one that does and we hope will continue to supply map updates at a reasonable price and I will be pleased to receive suggestions as what to change to. |

Vebdors with more reasonable prices and frequent map updates are for example Mapopolis and Deluo (Routis) _________________ Lutz

You could do what I did and buy CoPilot Live 4.0 (Software Only) direct from ALK for £134.99 (inc. VAT). At least you get patches for the application on their web site. This has new maps, POIs and you can use the PocketGPS Safety Camera database.

Mike is correct - CoPilot users that wish to move to CoPilot Live can take advantage of a discounted upgrade. This is now available at a reduced price of £105.86 including VAT and postage. Just send an e-mail with your contact details and and product key to ukcustservice@alk.eu.com and ALK will get in touch to process the upgrade. |
