Hi all,

I've been working for the last 3 weeks after passing my Class 2 LGV test, got my Class 1 coming up next week. I've so far done ok using the A-Z route but lugging around umpteen A-Z's & a massive UK Low Bridge Atlas is starting to get on my nerves, so i've ordered a TomTom One V2.

I've never had sat nav before so I would appreciate a bit of guidance as to what I should put on my TomTom when it arrives?.. I've grabbed the Low Bridge data from that Willows website, what settings would I need to put in my preferences ready for when I go out to work?..

thanks
Russ Smile

Big boy....its darren from Trucknet....small world...Laughing Out Loud

I have a Navman ICN520 with the lowbridges POI loaded onto it.
I still take mt AA Atlas with lowbridges with me, the Satnav is a really good aid once your in a strange town or city.
Just be careful as the Satnav thinks your in a car, So you need to monitor the roads you are been sent down.

you can play with the slider settings to use main roads/motorways more than minor roads

hehe.. less of the Big Boy.. people might get ideas Laughing

I know a certain amount of common sense is needed if sat nav says go down this road which the truck wont get down its a case of drive past and re-route..

thanks for the heads up Darren, i'll still take the Low Bridge Atlas, just think having the sat nav will save me carrying around all the A-Z's i've been given by a fellow trucker Smile

enter the menu and go to planning preferences then set it to always plan at limited speed and set the speed for 54mph as darren says think of it as a scrolling map and carry a london a2z and the bridge height map for quick reference if don't feel comforable going down a road don't take the turn as a rule of thumb.

and have fun with it
