Does anyone know if the latest Navman's have a better Camera "sound" than previously.
I have contacted Navman but they tell me the problem is the very slim case that does not allow a big enough speaker !!!!!
I pointed out that the spoken words are OK it is just the POI sounds that are the problem.
Looks like I am wasting my time talking to them, so if anyone can help I would be grateful.

I haven't seen the Desktop software for the very latest devices, the F and N series, but on the iCN7xx series the Custom POI sounds are fine and, what's more, you can now assign your own sounds to Custom POIs. I have one which says "Warning, Gatso ahead" for Gatros and the Ping sound provided for others, but you can add more. From what I was told, Navman have taken nothing away from the F and N series that was in previous models, but we should know for sure when we get a review sample. _________________ Tim |

Thanks for your comments.
I understand from previous posts that a number of people have had problems with the 530 icn including myself. I also seem to recall that someone, possibly yourself, suggested that it was not possible to modify the sound files as they were of a type that were not adjustable.
In the light of the above, am I correct in assuming that the 7 series use a different type of sound file? |

I honestly don't know, but the option to use your own sounds is provided in the Navman Desktop software for iCN7xx. This feature doesn't exist in the iCN530 Desktop. _________________ Tim |

The 750 allows you to install your own sound files in.wav form hundreds of which are available free on the internet.I myself found one site that gave me 112 different files nearly all relating to speed camera warnings and the like.
The sound system is also a lot clearer, more volume and much better instructions during a trip.
Hope this is of some help. |

Any chance that you could provide a link to this website? I've been looking but have waded through lots of rubbish and found next to nothing. _________________ Tim |

It looks like the 7xx series does in fact have a different "sound" file system than the 5xxx. due to the desktop feature.
Unfortunately there is no way this can be tested instore, so it looks like I shall have to purchase on the basis that if it doesn't work, it can be returned.
Handtec are an excellent company in this situation.
Thanks again |
