An Xstraordinary 2004 to YOU all!
I've just installed PPC2003 on a 3970 and SmartST Professional can't get any connection with nav 4400.
Before of this everything was ok with iPAQ3970+PPC2002+navman4400 on com8, also Tom-Tom City Map was working on com8.
Now none is working on com8 but Tom-Tom works on com5, SmartST close after some seconds the connection on com5, and any other com won't work.
Result: it seems I can't use anymore SmartST Professional, except (I guess) coming back to PPC2002!?
Thans for any help
Massimo

There were some known issues with upgrading a 39xx to WM2003, I believe I recall reading a few other people had a similar problem.
Check the PPC2003 forum here and you may find the thread. Also make sure you are not using TomTom's GPS driver 2.08 or above as this will stop all other applications other than TomTom's talking to a BT GPS. |

COM5 is the correct port to use for a Bluetooth GPS on a Pocket PC 2003 iPAQ 3970 - 5 and 8 are the other way round on this particular setup compared to many iPAQs.
Apart from agreeing with Dave about the possible culprit being TomTom GPS 2.08 or 2.09 (if so, try uninstalling "TomTom ~ GPS" from the Remove Programs menu in the System tab of the Settings screen just once - a single uninstall will just remove its hooks to the Bluetooth stack, not the actual program which will require a second uninstall), I haven't anything else to suggest. I do use a Pocket PC 2003 iPAQ 3970, but not a Bluetooth GPS.

Dave & David,
THANK-YOU!
To uninstall Tom-Tom GPS support and use the COM5 is the solution!
...so I will not use Tom-Tom GPS Support anymore... for the moment!
An Xtraordinary 2004 to YOU ALL!
