Hi,
What receivers give verbal announcements when used with the speedcamers database.
My friend currently has a Navman 520.
He is interested in getting a receiver which will give him announcements regarding the speed cameras and the speed limit of the area.
he tells me the 520 merely announces that there is a camera but not what the limit is or the type.
Is their such a receiver? |

Yes, my friend is aware that the Navman will display a different icon for each speed/type of camera. What he wants though is a verbal indication of the speed in the zone so that he avoids the need to look at the GPS screen. |

Get a Tom Tom and download cameras split into type and speed. Then download the verbal warnings from this site http://www.tomtomsatnav.info/.
You will get a warning telling you the type of camera and the speed limit. _________________ Peter

Nope.
This friend has suggested that the illuminated flashing signs that come on when exceeding the speed limit would be much more informative if they indicated the actual speed of the vehicle. He feels that it would be better to know what speed he is doing. I suggested that he used the instrument fitted in his car for that very purpose. |
