I have recently bought destinator 3 full UK and western europe from globalpositioningsystems.co.uk. I use HP 2210 pocket PC. The destinator 3 version 3.0.13 was supplied and there was bug as the program never could calculate the directions, it always displayed map calculation error. I updated to 3.0.25 even I knew there is still roundabout bug, and it works for the moment except for the roundabout error, but not the GPS receiver. I could never receive a strong satellite signals. When I start to power up, it may took few minutes to acquire satellite. Usually I could only receive 4 to 6 satellite signals initially, or sometimes none. As soon as I move my car, in less than few minutes, I could not receive any signal anymore. I know the weather in the UK is bad nowadays, cloudy, and rainy, but I never thought of that I could never receive gps signal 99% of the time in my car. I have been in Liverpool, Bristol and Bath. I could never receive gps signal for more than 2 minutes in these places. I have tried to put the receiver on the roof of my car, and there is no difference as well.
Is there any incompatible issue between the supplied receiver and HP 2210? How can I check whether my GPS receiver is working properly?

This may not have to do with Destinator after all. Can you please let us know the make and model of your GPS receiver and the settings you are using it at? If everything else fails you should try setting it manually to NMEA 4800 baud (don't use the "Find GPS" button - that is known to reprogram receivers so they become unusable) _________________ Lutz

I used the SiRF 19200 setting for GPS receiver. It normally work for a few minutes when I turn on the Destinator3 software and receiver. After that, the signal will be lost and I would never detect the GPS signal again. However, normally I could detect again after a many hours later, usually the next morning.
I have also tried the NMEA 4800 setting. This morning, I could detect the satellite using SiRF 19200. Then I reset it to NMEA and I could not detect any satellite signal. I remember yesterday I could detect GPS signal for around 1 minute using both settings. I am wondering why the GPS signal will be lost so quickly, even if I remain stationary. Initially, I could detect strong signal of 5 satellites this morning, and I waited in the car, and in less than 1 minute, the signal just lost. Destinator prompts "GPS signal is lost".
I am not sure of the model of the receiver. The barcode sticker read L3030129903. It has destinator tag and was supplied with the destinator software bundle. THe packaging was destinator2, but software supplied was destinator 3 CDrom. I hope it gave you some clue about which receiver were included. Previously, I read from destinator webpage that the receiver could not be used with HP 2210. However, I found out from Dave in this forum that there is no problem at all. And that was why I bought it, but unfortunately, things had not been good for me.
