Avoid Roads doesn't work properly in D6?

I've tried calculating a route and then selecting roads to avoid in Turn-by-turn. D6 recalculates the route and produces exactly the same route. Cancelling the route and recalculating it can make D6 avoid the route. However, It now remembers to avoid that road - and I can't find out how to stop avoiding. Adding and removing it from my avoid road list has no effect.
Any ideas? Could it simply have decided that another route is better and somehow modified its database to suit?

Another irritaing thing about about road is that only a town and street combination has to be input. Can you select simply the A123 designation?

Have the same problem, it just does not block part of the route. I do not quite understand howe you block part of the route when cancelling?
The route is gone so how can I tell it to avoid???
