Has anyone out there managed to install TomTom mobile onto a Nokia N80 or other series 60 v3 device - if so how.
I had no problem installing it on my N70 but can't get any response on my new N80 |

I have sent an email to tomtom to ask them for some help and they replied, " at this moment in time we have no information when there will be an update to v5.20 and if support will be made available for the N80 "
How helpfull is that ? |

I'm led to believe that TomTom 5 will not work on any v3 device at all.
You'll have to wait for an update, which given the time frame will probably be TomTom Mobile 6.0
Lesson to be learned, make sure TomTom is compatible with your phone before you buy it |

Nokia N80 runs Symbian s60v3, the next release of the operating system. None of the s60v2 applications (which work on phones from 7610 upto the N70) work on this new operating system.
I'm using my N80 for phone calls, media playing, web surfing etc and a spare 7610 as my dedicated Tomtom handset =) |

Route66 software does not work on the N80 either though Route66 will have you believ that it does until you have perted with your money and then they say there are problems.
I object to their obtaining your money under false pretences. I am 108 euros out of pocket.
What is up with Nokia dishing out alll these trash phones lately? |

Nokia are not dishing out trash phones. They are responding to the market. S60v3 is not backwardly compatible, but does include new features such as uPnP etc. Remember when Excel was nto backwardly compatable unless you saved it as a different format? Same thing. It's called progress. I have an N80 and it the *best* phone I have ever had. I am also one of those awaiting TTM6 and am horrified that both Navicore and Route 66 claim compatability and then say there is a problem....
At least TT do not claim to have a product. _________________ iPhone5, TomTom, Google maps, Navfree, Viewranger and Apple Maps (ekk) |
