I have a spare phone which I want to use connected to my TT910 for data downloads etc.

Do any of the pay as you go contracts/services wortk with the TomTom data connection, and what settings are requuired (if not the standard ones)?

Thanks

Look at prices first. As far as I can tell, Orange is the cheapest if you use a lot of data. They have a package that gives 16Mb for £4, but only lasts for a month. If you want open ended, it costs £1 per meg.

Vodafone is the most expensive that I have found with their contract at £2.35 per meg.

That was all a couple of months ago. So you need to make sure that the phone is compatible with the TT, and then ask about the current data plan charges.

Thanks - my concern is whether they will actually work with th TT910.

I had a TT500 and managed to get it working on Orange PAYG, but couldn't use any of the others, and I wondered if anyone had actually tested a PAYG SIM to see if it worked - I'd like to use O2 or Orange ideally

Are the data services all working OK - ie TomTom plus camera download, traffic etc.?

O2 PAYG cannot be used as the type of data transfer you need is restricted to contract customers.

(There is a workaround on PDA's like the XDA but this does not work on the TT Go's as the required settings cannot be altered)

I am on Virgin PAYG and have never had any problems using the plus service. Used the wizard to auto setup the internet connection and worked straight off.

T-Mobile PAYG also works, not sure on the costs though.

Surprised that it worked with Orange PAYG - I thought they only supported GPRS on contracts. TT don't list the 6310i as supported anyway :-(

I have a Nokia 6230i on Vodafone PAYG as a spare phone (main phone is on Orange contract).

I have used the 910 with the Voda PAYG with no problems. The best thing about it is it seems to be free! I have used GPRS quite extensively and no credit has been deducted from my phone.

The secret is setting the 910's data connection manually and entering the correct access point name, user name and password. This seems to provide access to vodafone GPRS and does not deduct any credit.

Sooty

Why not publish your settings here. It will save you having to PM everyone that asks
