ps skip,
it also says i'm running european city select V6. I was told it was V7. I have a disc. the unit was brought in Apr 2005 along with a free upgrade to V7. I suppose the last owner hasn't done it?
and finally, I wrote to garmin explaining about previous owner etc. waiting feedback.
It did allow me to register the unit. I sent them the details. |

UPDATE -12 JAN 1am
Managed to download and install webupdater and update the sys version from 3.00 to 3.50. so far so good.
next, i've downloaded the audio file from thegarmin site'Quest Audio British English Ver. 3.00 as of April 29, 2005 '.
here's the problem.
downloaded it to desktop. unzipped the 2 files. problem. it won't let me read the 'RGN' file- my pc won't read it according to the pop up box.
Also, for some reason, it won't allow me to update the audio to 3.00.
and finally, the guy who I brought the unit from was entiled to a free download /upgrade to V7 on the maps. having trouble here too. can someone point old FF in the right direction once again please?
Thanks |

cracked it...hoorah!
I managed to get the RGN file onto the garmin, not as per download instructions but from the method on Eslsinga's web page. (brilliant / helpful pages)
He makes it soo simple really, plug USB into garmin, turn on and set to indoors.
go to file on pc, find RGN file and drag in onto the webupdater icon.
Bob's your uncle's brother...result.
All I got to do now is set the Quest to wash the dishes |

Hi, tangent, I'm having problems getting on line, so don't see these msgs often till my issue resolved. however, I think if you go to another of my posts called something like :helpful to beginners: you should see the link to the page you are after.
when I get things sorted, I will try and give you more help. should be,fingers crossed in the next week or two.
