Right then, after 18 months of using it in my tank bag I've found a way of mounting it....

RAM don't do a cradle, but they pointed me at a company called Brodit (www.brodit.com) who do make one (part number 215035) which can be sourced in the UK from "In Car Discount" 0870 760 6110. Price was £28 delivered.

The cradle has a swivel mount that can be removed (4 screws) and then fitted straight to a RAM "diamond" mount, and then to the bike. Need to source the RAM part of the solution, but the cradle was the difficult bit.

Just need to work out where on my '03 FireBlade to mount it Rolling Eyes

I'll post some pics when I get it all sorted.

Are you sure this will withstand the vibrations? Without a top clamp you risk of seeing the device fly away pretty quickly...

Hmm, I'l wait for the cradle to turn up and see how it looks and feels. It may need some additional help (velcro ?) to hold it in place. It may turn up tomorrow, so we'll see.
