I am at present doing my Class 1 driving lessons, and in a few weeks could be driving all over the country in said vehicle. What i want to know is what Sat Nav equipment is good for this?

Obviously i need to avoid low bridges and narrow lanes etc etc.. it needs to be portable to move from vehicle to vehicle too.

Any advice would be greatful, thanks

thats my main concern really

There are poi's for low bridges, but i don't think you will find any for weight or width restrictions, those may only be available from professional type units if any.

nothing at the moment does weight limit as know one will take responsibility for the data as it changes to often bridge height you will only get a warning fornit NOT avoid them

i have a Sony Ericcson P910i and you can get tom tom for that? with a bluetooth receiver...

would that be ok, or would i be better with a stand alone system.

i used to have a Medion PDA and to be honest that was pretty good... although i only ever used it in the car. unfortunately one smashed window later, it was gone Sad

A friend of mine has a Motorhome and uses a Garmin i3.

He can choose the type of vehicle to plan routes for. There are 4 or 5 types which include Car and Truck. He uses the Truck setting and it appears to keep him off the narrow roads where My Tomtom Go takes me down them.
May be other Garmin units do the same.

I hope this helps

hi there
there are weight limit pois out there, but few and far between.
navigon mn5 also has different vehicle classes, from bike to lorry
never had a problem with it set on truck and personally i prefer the mapping of it over tomtom. Ionly use tom tom if its a bad address and just navigate to postcode.
