I think i am an idiot. I have the cleese voice on my sotrage card. He shows up on my list as special 37 with a picture and everything, but when i click test nothing happens and selecting him results in no voice prompts of any kind. The files are in a folder called voices on my card right next to my maps. Please help!

Have you also got a folder on your SD called TomTom, there doesn't need to be anything in it but I think TT5 looks for it.

A general question about celebrity voices!
Do they simply say what they should say or do they add to or alter the phraseology at all?
I expect Yoda says it all backwards but does John Cleese get ratty? If he does, then I am in!

BADDave, its well worth loading the "extra voices" for a laugh - Jane can get tedious at times Yoda is back to front, can't comment on John Clease as I have only tried the sample / test as yet - not driven using it yet but the varriaty is great - Mike

The John Cleese voice has clarity, but the instructions are mainly straight.
It is Cleese and not Basil Fawlty. Only "funny" comment is at destination.
I also have Yoda which is amusing.
Surely a nagging wife/husband or mother in law is the next step.
Different voices do help the trip become more interesting.

Guys, we cannot permit links to and request for pirated software of any kind. Many of the voices being requested here are copyright.

Please desist. I have removed links and email addresses where necessary and we will remove the posting priviliges of persistent offenders.

Darren,
I'm sure I read somewhere in this Forum or on this site that you were having discussions with e-bay about pirate software.

Having just done a search on e-bay it's funny to see about 2 pages of people offering the full TT5.1 versions with voice databases.

Surely this is a bigger problem as these people are trying to sell the voices rather than just share with fellow users.

Piracy is Piracy but once people start buying from e-bay the whole web is going to be flooded with these voices & no amount of locked threads will stop people getting there hands on them. Wink

I don't disagree that the problem is massive but we have to make a stand somewhere. We can't choose to 'overlook' some instances simply because no money is crossing palms.

Those voices that are being 'shared' here result in a financial loss to the creators some of whom are one or two man bands and so possibly suffer greater loss than the likes of TomTom.

Theft is theft, whether you give pirated software away or charge for it make not a hoot of difference. Although we all know its rife and indeed the majority of us will have dabbled in such practices at some stage if we don't take a firm stance on this then the website would quickly deteriorate into a trading site for pirate software.

Dont think Joanna `genuinely` did the voice did she?

Think she must be out there in the public domain somewhere, I found that one pretty quickly 3 years ago.
Let me know if you have tried all avenues and still no luck.
