Hi everyone. I bought recently a CF gps card off ebay from "nexgen" sales, i think.
It works fine, apart from when using tom tom3 the instructions come way too late. It was fine when i had a wired mouise type.

On the advert it said that it auto switches between the 2 modes. I'm beginning to wonder.
i don't know how i'd switch it anyway.
I cannot find out what make it is anywhere as a start.

I'm presuming the late instructions are because of the xtrac mode.
the url is below for the item. Maybe i should have paid the extra and bought from a shop!

any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Danthurston,

Looks from the EBAY auction link you included in your posting that this GPS is an Autoswitching unit. This means it looks for a signal and which ever chipset offers the more accurate positional information is used.

What type of windscreen does your car have? If it is a heat reflective or coated windscreen then you may find that the Xtrac chipset will be in constant use as your windscreen will be obstructing the GPS reception. Using Xtrac will create a lag time and, when travelling at speed, cause instructions to appear late. Why not try an external or re-radiating antenna and see if this improves the reception and lag time.

Hope this helps
