my acer n35 does a complete reset and i lose all info and it goes all back to defualt when i SOMETIMES connect the usb connect to pda to pc to charge it. can anyone confirm why this is?
is it a issue with my PDA?
or
is it because im plugging it into a multiple usb hub connecter?(6 port hub) or... should i connect it to my pc directly into a single usb hub and pref a high speed 2.0 one?
your thoughts, suggestions and comments welcome... |

havnt got a clue mate, it was just a cheap mini 4 port usb hub i bought from ebay about a year ago for £5. so if it wasnt a high powered hub is the possibility there for my PDA to completely reset due to this??? |

there's a chance for that. you should avoid running Pocket PCs through unpowered USB hubs. _________________ Lutz

speed is not important. It needs to be a powered hub.
Anyway, it is not recommended to connect a Pocket PC through a hub. Why can't you connect it directly? Do you have just one USB port on your PC? _________________ Lutz

i am currently running it directly now. i have 4 usb ports on my pc. though i guess i will get a new usb hub. but can someone point me in the right direction say on ebay?
so anyone else confirm the usb hub i was running the pda off may of been the cause of my pda completely resetting and losing all data? just wana be sure it was that TWICE as its a matter of keep the pda or take it back to the shop... |

Avoid using USB hub unless you have to.
It is always best to connect any USB device directly to PC. _________________ Pc-Mobile

The problem with cheap USB hubs is that they split the power supply designed to run one USB device into four serparate weaker ones.
Obviously this causes problems with some devices.
However many USB hubs, come with thier own power supply (i.e. you plug them into the mains) so they can boost the juice to the necessary requirements.
Just look for any USB hub that comes with a A/C plug and you should have no problems. Typically they cost about 10- 15 quid in the shops, but you might get lucky on e-bay. |

I have had two N35s that do hard resets when you connect the power lead while it is turned off. Both went back to Amazon for refund.
One was also bad at re-fixing to the satellite when switched off and on again. Seeing them side by side it was clear one was much more inferior to the other. |
