Hi! We see you’re using an ad-blocker. We’re fine with that and won’t stop you visiting the site.
But as we’re losing ad-revenue from this then why not make a donation towards website running costs?. Or you could disable your ad-blocker for this site. We think you’ll find our adverts are not overbearing!

All waypoints collected free and now to sale !
"Dear Habot,
Since the start of POIHandler on the first of January 2003 many users have registered themselves at POIHandler.com. Nowadays we are spending a lot of time to keep the site running and to answer all sorts of questions. Apart from that the Internet and hosting costs are also increasing.
Until now the service has always been free. In order to keep the service at this level we are going to change this. To keep this site running and improve the service we need a small financial support. Unfortunately the advertisements/banners do not generate the needed financial support. PoiHandler services will be split into two areas - a non commercial and a commercial section. For the commercial section we have a POIHandler.com subscription at a small annual fee of €12.
This subscription possibility starts on June 8, 2003. You can already subscribe to continue this service as usual at www.poihandler.com. Take a look for “Subscription” in the menu.
What is the difference between a non commercial and a commercial section?
For people who prefer to make use of the free service, several POI groups (among which the leading POI Group Speedcams) and functionality will be disabled on June 8, 2003. Nonetheless most of the Points of Interest will still be free.
For POIHandler subscribers we will enable all the Points of Interest groups (including the leading POI Group Speedcams) and functionality.
I am assuming that everybody who uses POIHandler seriously will want this site to be continued and even be improved. Therefore we hope this small fee will not be a reason for you to stop using POIHandler.
If you subscribe you are assured to receive all the Points of Interest and services of POIHandler during your subscription.

Thanks for the post of the full letter. As someone who doesn't currently use this service, I'm interested to see it.
As has been said elsewhere in the forums, unless I'm very mistaken, the POI files have been provided by users for users without any of the data providers being paid. If that is the case, I think it's taking something of a liberty to charge for that data as your premium content. I am willing to be told I'm wrong, though - this is only my impression of the situation.
Personally, I think the best POI repository for the UK is here on Pocket GPS - a site that so far hasn't charged users at all. If a small donation was suggested by those that run this site, I'd offer a contribution. Meanwhile, I hope that the income from the site's sponsors is holding up sufficient to run the site.
I'd just like to place on record how glad I am to all the Pocket GPS team for what they provide. It's a great resources and the forums are a place where knowledgeable and helpful people hang out.

Thanks David. Everything we do at Pocket GPS is for all of you. The majority of the POI's can be downloaded from here that POI-Handler have, or failing that at the TomTom Website, as most author's upload to both, and we will be expanding the POI's and looking at various sync options in the near future.
I'm sure there will be a few people who will pay the 12 euro's a year that POI-Handler are asking, but I suspect many will now leave POI Handler and come back to the services that serve them well.
If anyone has any suggestions on how we can make Pocket GPS better than ever, we're always open to suggestions (in Wishlist forum), hey and if anyone wants to be able to get their hands on a lot of the products we review, come along to Pocket GPS Summit 2003.
