Smart ST 3 for Palm and constant GP01 errors

After much hard work I managed to get hold of GPS 4470 for Palm OS as it was supposed to work with a Sony Clie. The product worked ok (if you don't mind using emergency vehicle access roads to get on to the M25) until I drove into any major conurbation when it would work for about 5 minutes and then stop with a variety of errors, the most common of which was a GP01 error.

After a lot of emails with tech support I decided to cut my losses and upgrade my Clie to a Palm Tungsten T5. I installed the patches etc and headed off to London. Guess what, same problem the software seems to slow down before finally dumping its bluetooth connection which is what causes the error.

My question is has anyone actually managed to get Smart ST working in London without constant problems and if so on what device and how?
