ok, decided to give this a go using TomTomTim's instructions (page 9 of this thread)

I presume I've done everything correctly but get the error message:

Not a good DATA.CHK file. Please report your build version of the TomTom program to lutz@pocketgpsworld.com

I've tried naming the file 5158.data.chk 2852.data.chk 4109.data.chk and 4890.data.chk (that's my build version) and changed the number in the VB code accordingly but none of them seem to work

the .ogg files I've created are in 11025 Hz, 1600 Hz and 22050 Hz
I listed the 11025 and 22050 in the excel speadsheet

I've even tried downloading Ray's PPC data.chk file (file 4) and using that with 5158 and 4890 Confused

can anyone help ?

TTN 5.000 build 4890 (PPC not Go)

thanks

BTW, forgot to add, Rays file works on my PPC... what build is it Ray ?
and can I use it as the base file instead of my original data.chk file ?

Its from ttn5 don't know the exact build as I don't have ttn5 it was mailed to me and yes you could use it as the base file.

Not a good data.chk..... check page 14
http://pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=16489&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=195

Did you get the file I mailed?

thanks Ray, that data.chk file you made works a treat Cheers!

just realised I forgot to boost the volume on a couple but what the heck...

I've tried all sorts of combinations with TTTims Excel spreadsheet solution but had no luck, other than Excel refusing to shut down
in hindsight that might have been an indication something was happening but it was about 5 minutes after pressing the command button and there's nothing to indicate it's doing anything Confused

I removed the module check lines but that didn't seem to make a difference, other than not give a warning...

oh the frustration.... I could crush a grape !

Using activesync do you have a folder/icon called pocket pc or system folder?
Inside pocket pc find folder program files then you should be able to find the folder for ttn5, not sure what it will be called.
Only guessing have no experience of ttn5 and very little experience of ppc's.

mine has the same files, except data is called data.chk

maybe your's just isn't showing the file extension ?

try copying the data.chk file into that folder, if a warning comes up asking if you want to replace the current file then it's almost certainly the data.chk file
alternatively, try renaming the data file to dataold then copy data.chk to the folder and see what happens

OMG... it worked !!!

huge huge thanks to Lutz for the code and TomTomTim for the "quick and dirty" solution

have a pint on me... Guinness

b****cks...
knew it couldn't last... just tried the new data.chk file and TT wouldn't start up (well the hands appear in the bottom right corner but that's it)
if I clicked on the little hands the GPS status page comes up (eventually), but in german and locks anyway, I changed back to the original file and it was fine again... grrrrr Evil or Very Mad
