8)
I am really confused by the generation of channels,
8 channel like xemics, SIRfII--12 channel, Nemerix--16 channel,Start III--20 channel
http://www.f-tech.com.tw/datasheet/GPS/8vs12channel.pdf
(1)sensitivity getting higher because more channel?
(2)no compromise on the channel increase?Power consumption increased ,battery life reduced?
(3)Does it real show 16 or 12 sattelites in the view always??
(4)what the situation of Garmin receiver ?
It;s really a cool thing on consumer products and fundamental science snse!

let me try to answer

1) not necessarily. Sensitivity is a function of the ceramic patch antenna, not of the computer behind it. However the chipset can then have different thresholds - 143 dB on the Xemics, 152 dB on SirF III. So Sirf III can use signals that are already discarded by Xemics.

2) depends on how channels are used. The current SirfStar III chip definitely has a higher energy consumption because the processor is running on full load most of the time. This will be different for trickle power modes.

3) Physically you cannot see much more than 12 satellites (unless you are high up in space). However, many times you receive multiple signals from the same satellite - bounced from building walls around you, bent by the atmosphere etc. This is especially useful in urban canyons and indoors. This is where Sirf III excels - it can us multipath signals that normally get discarded. 20 channels does not mean 20 separate satellites - it means 20 distinct signals can be correlated.

4) sorry I don't understand the question.
