Hi,
i've just bought this Socket bluetooth Gps receiver..
The bad news is that i think it doesn't work at all.
First of all the green led is always steady and it never flashes (in the manual it says that after switched on it start flashing so the gps position is fixed.
With Tom tom Navigator (not the 2 version) it find 2 or 3 satellites max (outside) but it locks only few time and u can't move because u loose the signal.
I ask u if it is normal..
thanks

Gordi,
This is not normal. The Socket Receiver should be able to see about 6-11 sats normally, fewer in special circumstances like in the centre of a town with tall buildings.
If you try to start outside in narrow streets wityh tall buildings then sometimes it is difficult to get a fix. Make sure that you are in the complete open, (not in the car or under trees or in near tall buildings) and try again, if you still only get 2 or 3 then something is wrong.
If you are having trouble in your car check to see what type od windscreen you have. Some cars have coated screens which block GPS signals. _________________ Mike Barrett |

no,
I tried in completely open. (outside the car)
In my car i probably have a coated screens but there is a little space where i use the Telepass it works.. i think in that point it's not shielded. i'm thinking to put the receiver there.
what do u think?
alternative solution? (i bought the bluetooth to put it there, i hope it works cause i paid not cheap :-( )
ciao

Are you holding the Socket? Check out my post "New user having bother". Try out my suggestions and see what happens.

Gordi,
We share the same problem. My brand new Socket bluetooth Gps never get a fix. The green light never
flashes. In Crux I can get 1 to 12 satellites but never
a fix.
Did you find a solution? Does anybody else have an idea
about what to do?

Swerik, check out this thread, especially Gadjet's reply. It sounds like it's faulty. |

Dave,
I took my GPS out in a field and got a first fix
in 10 minutes. Now I get a 3D-fix of 4-6 out of 7-8
visible satellites where I got nothing before :-)
The manual that came with the GPS could have been
better!
