Have a 2699 which I have now tried to reset to factory settings (erase data). It then gives me a UK screen which I accept. On the next warning screen I press OK and the unit turns off.

Any idea how to solve this please?

Thanks

Only thing I can suggest is do another reset.

2699 turning off randomly.

We've had this before:

Thanks! After about 8 hard resets, it seems to work now. Not sure if it will happen again but time will tell!

Actually the problem was self-created. I moved the POI directory and contents to the SD card via PC and removed the POI directory on the Garmin. This is what caused the confusion. When I removed the SD card it worked and I thought it was the hard resets. As soon I put the card in, it stopped again - then I realised that this POI directory was the issue.

BTW, installing camera database from here with manual option on the loader, I do not get a choice where I want to put them. Question

Only option you get is to device or computer.

I install mine to computer then manually copy to my nuvi.

Surprised at your cause. I run a POI folder on both my device and card, and I know of many others that do, without any issue.

You get the option of Device or Computer.
Select Garmin Device.

The next screen gives a drop-down list, so you can select either Device (nuvi 2699 unit ID nnnn) or Memory Card (drive reference letter).

Dales.

Edited 23.2.16 - sorry I originally put Computer instead of Device, as the option to select to get to the SD card.

Yes I run my Poi's quite happily from my SD card.

But note that these must be the Poi's that have been processed by PoiLoader (ie a .gpi file).

I can imagine that the Garmin might choke if you put the raw Poi data (eg .csv or .gpx files) on the SD card.

Dales.
