|

New member, hi all, hoping I am posting in the correct sub-forum.
I have a 51lmt-s that never seems to fully charge.
Each time I switch on without a charging lead I get a low-battery warning, even after leaving it on overnight charging.
I have now left it plugged in but switched off, but have no idea if it is charging. Time will tell I suppose.
I am using the adapter supplied with it.
Any info gratefully received,
bermec. |

Well Garmin devices these days won't last long on battery but what you describe isn't normal. When you say you've left it overnight on charge, what is charging it? _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

It was left overnight switched on charging from a mains charger which should outperform the 1amp 5volt vehicle charger.
I have no ides of the power consumption of the unit.
btw Thanks for replying. |

That's strange then. A wall charger should fully power your device. My 50 has a battery icon top right, if your 51 does what does it show when you switch it on after overnight charging? I'd also try switching it off fully rather than leaving it on while charging. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

After overnight charging the indicator shows about 50% then slowly falls and the 'low battery' warning appears.
I plugged the unit in in the car 2 -3 hours ago which automatically switches the unit on then switched it off.
Still the same result when checked 10 minutes ago.
The indicator does show a charging symbol when plugged in.
Doing a software update...
Update done, still don't know if it charges switched off so turned brightness to minimum and leaving overnight.
Thanks for the feedback, if this fails will send the unit back.
Checked this morning, now have a fully charged unit, well pleased.
always best to install updates!
Thanks Susamb. |
