Hi guys, have been browsing the site for a while mainly the search function and posted a few times . Tried looking for advice on using an SD card with my nuvi 310
i have inserted the card but cant see it via PC etc. and dont know how to access it via Nuvi

When you connect the Nuvi to your PC (and you have the SD card fitted) it should create 2 addtional drives, one called "Nuvi" and one called "SD card". You can now access the drive via Windows Explorer (or equivalent).
Please be careful when deleting files as you can
a) Remove the maps, for which there is no fix (without a backup) except returning to Garmin.
b) Corrupt your unit such that it no longer boots up.
When you finish, always use the "Safely Remove Hardware" option before disconnecting.
Depending on the firmware, yes you should find it has an auto zoom option. If your Bluetooth has gone to 0.0 then either:
a) Restart it a couple of times, and see if it fixes itself.
b) You have loaded the wrong firmware - try using WebUpdater. |

Is your SD card formatted? - to double check what is happening open up Windows Explorer BEFORE you plug the Nuvi in to the PC, make a note of all the drive letters that are shown.
Plug in the Nuvi and it should appear as a picture with the name "Garmin nuvi" (x) where x is the assigned drive letter, the SD card will then be called Removable Disk (y) where y is the assigned drive letter - Mike |

cheers Mike, it wasnt visable the first time. I'll try that method again.
I have recently found out the Nuvi can see the SD card for jpegs etc. but not sure how to get POI's to work from it or am i understanding that bit wrong?? |

If the Bluetooth works, I wouldn't worry greatly about the 0.0.
The POIs have to be on the Nuvi itself - even if you put the file on the SD card, the Nuvi will ask if you want to copy it to the main unit on every startup.
Maps, mp3s, Audible books are the main things you can put onto the SD card. |
