Hi,
the camera database is just another set of POIs so if your unit can accept user-POIs you're good to go.
However, IIRC, out of the box, the original Start models had the "Easy menu" (i.e. a reduced menu) which didn't have the "Warn when near POI" functionality you need to get warnings.
I can't remember if that changed with an official software update,so the first thing to do is see if you have a "Manage POIs" sub-menu in the "Change preferences" menu, and if there is a "Warn when near POI" icon in that sub-menu.
If not, you CAN add a custom menu file to the unit to regain some of the missing features.
You can either write the required menu customisation file yourself (it's just a text list of the required menu items), or hopefully there should be some links in that topic for ready-made ones.

As for the "premium" POIs, you get access to all of those as well if you have subscribed for the Speed Camera database. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-)

Hi,
I have been following this link, as I am trying yo enable POI's.
I have created said text document tomtom.mnu and put it into files SdkRegistry, it then says place in the root of gps!. Sorry to sound dim where is this?, do I have the gps connected to pc with home started?
I did place the file straight into where the folders are contained in the directory for licences, tomtom config voices etc is this correct?, or does it go somewhere else/ I tried the instructions for seeing if it had worked no further menu to enable POI's- not sure what I am doing wrong?
Yes, that is correct. The Root is the top-most level you can access, i.e. not in any existing folders but directly into the memory (equivalent to what would be the "C" drive on a PC).
Use Windows Explorer to copy the files across, not TomTom Home.
Sorry, I can't help with the other issues you are having. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599
