|
|
I joined the M3 westbound from the J12 M25 slip where there is an average limit of 50 mph, SPECS. I always set my speed limiter to 52 mph as this is a true 50 mph and at first I was delighted that camalert popped-up the over speed warning but on passing the final camera, when back to the national speed limit, the warnings continued all the way down the motorway to my turn off at M3 J6, Basingstoke!
Do I have to go below the warning speed to stop the warnings? On my TomTom I can set a value to give warnings which I always set at 5 mph above any limit.
I am still getting the app failing to close and freezing my Galaxy S until it pops up the "Force Close" option. This does not generate a fault log.
regards,
Dave.

It's more likely that the final SPECS camera is not properly marked in our database. Do you know the camera ID? _________________ Lutz

Not being on Android, I hesitated to comment, but for me on iPhone camera 29806 was working correctly as an End camera last time I went through there (turned off the average). I'm positive about that, because I had wondered, so I watched it carefully. Is the problem device specific? _________________ Dennis

I will try it again next time I go down that way next week. I am wondering if it is because I am comming from the beta version of cameralert even though I have linked my account and download the latest database every week?
Do you think I should re-download the app?

Seems logical. Your Beta version would probably be not as good as the later developed new release. _________________ Dennis

Hi
a tolerance setting would be welcome. do 51 near a 50 camera and the nags are more frequent than my wife's
maybe a percentage 5% ? with the visual reminder but no voice nag? |

Again, I did my trip to Basingstoke today and joining the M3 J2 westbound from J12 southbound M25 as before. Into the average 50MPH SPECS. CAMERALERT started "nagging" as I was doing 52 mph but after the first camera (the one on the slip road) I got an "All Clear" while still in the area. The final camera of the SPECS series was not indicated?
I would like to report that this final camera is still there and claim my lifetime membership please.
Still having problems with the app "hanging" my Galaxy S and having to Force Close. _________________ Regards,

Ooops, I meant I was northbound coming from J11 to J12 clockwise M25 to the M3 westbound.
Sorry. _________________ Regards,

The final camera was there two weeks ago and it's permanent and it's in our database. You don't get "warned" of the final camera, merely get an All Clear (logical, you don't need to be warned that it is there, because it's the end). So the slip road camera warns, then half a mile later, the end camera triggers the All Clear.
(Unless Android version of CamerAlert is different from iPhone version). _________________ Dennis

how about: if you are over the speed limit for more than a few seconds then it sounds an alert? if you go over but slow down straight away then there'll be no warning that way. |

I got "All Clear" after the first camera and nothing after the last one. _________________ Regards,

Here's a theory to run past you. There's a mobile in your line of fire as you go on that slip road, which might well warn falsely, and which would then give an all clear when your line of direction changed to take it out of your arc of entrapment. Just a thought?

That is very interesting and well thought-out, and quite possible.
Would the false "All Clear" then cancel-out the fact that I was still in an avarage speed zone? _________________ Regards,

No it wouldn't (shouldn't). It would just explain the All Clear as you join the M3 though. I know I got an All Clear correctly from the average camera further on. _________________ Dennis
