create a folder in the root of the sd card called mp3 and put all of your mp3s in this.

Make sure all your music is in a folder named mp3 otherwise it will not see them. |

Can you just put the mp3's on the SD card, don't you have to put the application and maps etc on there also? _________________ Tomtom Go730T

Just the mp3 folder is fine. You could also have additional, different maps on the SD card too, without the application. _________________ Dennis

Excellent, thanks, for some reason I thought you had to have the whole system on the SD card.
I assume you would have to remove the MP3 folder from the internal memory? _________________ Tomtom Go730T

With the x20, x30 and x40 ranges you can have folders on the main memory and on the memory card at the same time and the device will sort out what to do. There is no need to remove similar named folders from the device in order to have a folder on the memory card.
Think of the memory card as an extension to the device memory, in this way it supplements the built in memory. The x20 and x30 units can also use the higher capacity SDHC type of memory card, these can store up to 32GB of data although 8GB and 16GB are easier to locate and less painful on the pocket!
The older TomTom One products used to have the memory card or internal memory and you had to copy everything to the memory card in order for it to work - it is probably this you are thinking of - Mike |

You mean the audio files need to be "mp3" type - Mike |

I use an 8gb SDHC card to hold a map of North America & Canada plus an MP3 folder for all my music.
The card holds about 5Gb of music - it's all there and I can see it with a card reader - but my TomTom (720T) only sees music on the card that begins with the letters A to T - and I know Will Young - and others are on the card.... because I made sure they were before inserting the card into the TT device.
Actually, an awful lot of music I put on the card is 'missing' - even Macy Gray can't be heard.
Equally, I cannot find anything by Will Young by searching any other way (eg Fridays' Child)
Now here's the really odd bit.
If I take the card out of the device and put it back into the card reader, all the folders past the letter T (Take That and so on) are physically missing.
All the folder from M to T are empty!
I can repopulate the card with music in folders - put it back in the device and reboot - and get exactly the same results.
Would I be correct in saying that there is some sort of limit on the number of folders that can be 'seen' or read? regardless of the size of the SD card?
Regards
Mick |

There is a limit, or there used to be - I haven't loaded up a card progressively to see if its changed recently
Try selecting Playlist rather than Artist as this tends to yield better results listing more artists/ albums and tracks - Mike |

It used to be that the device couldn't see more than 4Gb (I think) but since recenty Navcore updates, the limit has been removed.
No matter which way I try and search the music, none of the stuff as described is there.
The really odd bit is that files are removed.
I might try having just 4 seperate folders inside the MP3 folder with artisits a-g, h-l and so on to see if that makes a difference.
I haven't heard anybody else raise this though ... can't be just me, surely?
