Strange one that. TomTom.mnu works for me.
That was the next thing I was going to ask. _________________ Richard

Hi Guys, am urgently in need of a sat nav for my holidays. I only holiday in the UK at present but may need it for abroad over the next few years.
I understand this model only has limited memory. I have spent quite a long time reading this subject, but am not great with sat navs.
Would this model give me an option to import many poi's?
What is the difference between this model and the XL?
Thanks in advance. |

Don't worry about POI Files they small in size and don't require much in way of storage space on the device.
The One Third edition has a much smaller screen than the XL, and only has internal memory with no SD card slot to expand the devices capabilities later on.
I would have a look at the One XL Europe version or even the 720 device which can be currently picked up at bargain prices if you shop around - Mike |

I have just purchased a new TomTom ONE 3rd edition Europe(1Gb) after having used both CoPilot 7 and Destinator 7 on my iPAQ 4700. I must say the TomTom is much easier to use and does not lock up like my 4700 used to do quite frequently.
Following all the very useful information in this thread I have managed to customise my menus to how I like them as well.
Thanks very much to everyone for their contributions that have made this possible. _________________ Dave R (h5djr)

Hack no longer seems to work on 8.010...Icons still appear, and you can use the POI menu, but pressing the intinerary icon causes device to lock up and restart.. |

Hi Mike and the rest of you.
One 3rd edition is my first GPS. I have read good reviews about it, but I was stunned when I found that there was no Itinerary Planning function on it. Then, someone in a Norwegian TomTom forum gave me a link to your post about customize a menu to get the itinerary planning function back.
I tried it and I tested it by operate my One from TomTom home and it worked like hell. Then I disconnected my One from my PC and when I push the itinerary planning button my One seems to hang for a few seconds and then restarts. This happens all the time. When I connect it to my PC and operates it from HOME it works just fine.
The POI functions works fine, though, but I would really like to get the Itinerary Planning work as well. Do you guys have any clue why my One is behaving like this? |

Do you have firmware 8.010 installed on your unit? That release killed some custome menu features, including Itinerary Planning, while fixing or improving other issues. If you want that functionality back, I'm afraid you'll have to revert to Navcore 7x firmare for your unit. |

I will add some extra notes about the Navcore 8 issues to the first post in this thread when I get home, editing a long post containing graphics etc is not a good idea on a mobile phone! - Mike |

Are we missing out on much by going back to Navcore 7x firmware?
I like the itinerary, I also like the compass to point North and have my heading inside.
I'm not bothered about changing my car icon.
What else is there? |

Thanx guys, I still be readin'.
Got the "Itinerary Planning" on my TT, Thanx Mike, nice job.
Was used on a trip to Alabama, some curious results apparently from the mapping. The directions to Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, gave warnings about "unpaved roads" WOW was that out of date. Paves / painted and landscaped. But I got there.
Thanx again guys, I'm glad you understand this thing.................

I have a TomTom V3 Europe and above post would explain why when I apply the custom menu fix I can't get the Itinery Planning Function to work.
Can somebody PLEASE HELP and tell me where I can get the previous version of the firmware? I'm desperate to get this functionality working. |
