Out of interest has anyone had a sensible reply from Garmin about 3.00 problems. A week after contacting them I got a nonsensical email asking me to resend my message. Oddly my original message was appended to their email.... |

I have notice a big bug in 3.0 driving up the A38, it tells me to keep left, now if we did as it asks we would go off the A38 along the side road what runs along the A38 but we ignored it knowing where we need to get off, so we carry on A38 with this road long side us then the unit pipes up take on ramp as if we was on the side road and rejoin the A38, so any more get off get back on issues I hope not very bad very bad of the mappers to do that. _________________ tom tom start 25

hi have upgraded to 3.00 it works better than the 2.90 version ?
but still have the problem that when two turns are close together the sat nav tells you to turn to early.i.e. if you are after taking the second turning the voice prompts you as you approch the first turning? you have to look at map on sat nav to make sure you have the right turn which can be dangerous.
Wish i new how to revert back to 2.70 as i did not have a problem with that |

I've gone back to 2.7 as well and it works fine.
Only reason I went up to 2.9 is cos of the "fixes locking up approaching roundabouts" bug - although i'd never encountered this anyway!
Then up graded to 3.0 to see if 2.9 was fixed, and it was worse on my unit.
Wont be upgrading to 3.1 unless it says "all problems in 2.9, and 3.0 have been fixed, AND the following fixed.. etc etc" |

Doh!
The 3.0 firmware seems awful (unless I am missing something). On a trip today it kept directing me down roads that made no sense, then on the way home it insisted on telling me to get off the A50 at ALL of the seven junctions I passed on route to the M1 J24. Since I live in Loughborough this makes no sense at all!
So..... I am, just a little, keen to get back to version 2.7 of the firmware. Sadly, I don't have a copy of it. If I remember correctly, this is what my i3 shipped with. Version 2.9 was also a little dodgy on my i3.
I notice that, well, just a few people are doing this. Would anyone help me get a copy of it? I guess that it might be emailable or FTPable?
Help would be very much appreciated. I have asked Garmin support but am not sure if they'll be keen to hand out old firmware.
Thanks!
Darren. |

Thanks Anita!
I had searched a lot in Google I fiound nothing. I very pleased now ;-) as my experience with 3.00 was just terrible.
I will store the downloaded file away safely and be ready to revert to v2.7 again.
As an IT Project Manager used to building and testing software, I am can only guess that Garmin's testing of v3.00 was, well, limited to say the least.

You're welcome, Darren. I've had so much help on these forums myself that it's good to be able to pass it on. :P
I hope I've learned my lesson now, and will stick with 2.7 until a new version gets the from the guys on here. _________________ Anita

cheers anita, and for future reference it's a sticky at the top of the forum!!
as for the slow response from garmin i got an email from them a few days ago relating to a query i sent them about 6 weeks ago - they apologised for the delay saying support had been really busy recently. i guess it's everyone moaning about 2.9 and 3.0 f/w!!!

STOP THE PRESS!!!!
Garmin have just contacted me and told me how to fix all of the problems encountered in version 3.0 of the firmware. It's really simple and IK don't know why none of us thought of it...
Update the Firmware ong the unit to version 3.0
See all you have to do to fix all of the problems is update from 3.0 to 3.0 and it will all work......
Hang on... This great fix might not be all it's cracked up to be. I will mail them back!!! |
