|
|
I have just purchased a BT-338 and I am running it with TT5 on an Ipaq 5450. Since using the new GPS (instead of the original TT Wired GPS) I have noticed that the location on the map is around 30 yards behind where I am, in other words I have gone past the junction before TT realises and therefore the instructions are late... any ideas ? |

walking or driving?
driving normally or slowly?
There is a mode whereby the gps only updates every few metres if you are going slowly due to the inaccuracies of older recievers - the BT338 should be shipped with this mode off as it has greater sensitivity. |

Mike, if this happens constantly you may have some serious problem, but if this happens "sometimes", I'm quite sure that this is the "parity error problem" that give position errors in BT-338 with 3.0.2 firmware.
I own a BT-338 and I also had problems like this, one/two times everyday, before upgrading to 3.1.1 firmware.
Regards. |

You can send your BT-338 for upgrade, to Globalsat USA, read here:
http://www.usglobalsat.com/item.asp?itemid=82
or you can do it by yourself...
read my message in topic:
"BT 338 firmware update now taking place!"

I got same issue with mine, it takes sometimes 5 minutes to lock on and sometimes doesn't at all and then I have to soft reset PDA and switch off GPS and back on, then it works.
I will update, but it sucks paying to update something that went out wrong. |

THIS FIRMWARE UPGRADE WILL:
* Upgrade your receiver to allow the SiRF III chipset to be WAAS capable and activated via the “SiRF DEMO” utility software. *
* Improves acquisition and also improves bit sync capability and recovery mode. (This error can cause fix problems from reacquisition after a blockage from receiving data also know as the ‘jet-lag” symptom).
* Improves cold start frequency search range problem, where frequency was not searched properly after 30 seconds.
* Improves potential cold start visible list problem, which could affect performance if all satellites are below 32 db-Hz
* Corrects Message “41” datum field.
* Corrects date stamp not updating.
* Limits the 50 BPS thresholds to 27 to avoid undetected parity errors, which can give position errors.
THIS FIRMWARE UPGRADE WILL NOT:
Change the current function of the “Auto Shut-Off” to activate after 10 min if no Bluetooth connection is present to conserve battery life. This feature is NOT correctable with any firmware upgrades, it is a hardware design with plans to modify the function as a running change on production units by the end of the year. |
