Brodit. Better quality by a mile. Made to last and wouldn't look out of place in any car.

Having said that you appear to be using a CarComm mount in you LR, how do you rate that against the Brodit?
The reason I ask is that I can't make up my mind which to go for, Brodit do an active mount for the XDA II but don't yet have a PS2 to RJ11 adaptor cable to connect a TT Wired GPS although they say one will be available in a few weeks. CarComm already have a mount for the XDA II with adaptor cable. CarComm mount 5353 and adaptor cable 4744 total £49.00 as apposed to Brodit at £59.99. I suppose I could use the CarComm adaptor with the Brodit assuming the pin outs are the same.

I use both, Carcomm for the XDAII and Brodit for my 2210. Carcomm lack a built-in speaker amplifier but are otherwise as good as if not marginally better although they have a very small range.

As long as the speaker amp is not required I would go with the Carcomm. I have a Leadtek mouse connected to it via their PS/2 - RJ11 adapter which makes for a very neat install.

FWIW, Brodit's ProClips are much better than Carcomm's Safety Clips and are interchangable.

Thanks for that Darren, seams the choice is down to if I want a powered mount or not. Do you know if the Brodit is liable to give the same problem as others seem to be having with the XDA II when they use the the Holux C-100 powered mount that seem to interfere with the XDA II's phone.

Sorry Graham, I couldn't say. I am testing a Herbert Richter (HR) mount solution that does suffer small amounts of interference when using the XDAII so this may well be the case, HR are a German company with German levels of build quality and components, if it affects them then I can only guess that its difficult to shield against.

That's ok Darren, I think this interference problem is going to affect all the active/speaker mounts to a more or lesser extent. With an amplifier, Microphone, speaker and phone in very close proximity there is bound to be problems. So I've settled for the CarComm unit.

Carcomm were showing a PDA amplifier accessory at CeBIT similar to the Qubit PDA Amp I reviewed a while ago. It would be in addition to the cradle but being a remote solution would circumvent the interference issues,

They haven't posted details yet but it could be an excellent solution, it looked very well thought out with ISO connectors to integrate with the car audio. Just another option to consider!
