ARKNAV President - Why Attend CTIA?
We continue our series of industry interviews that we are running alongside our visit to CTIA 2009, Las Vegas with a short Q & A with Richard Tijsen, President of ARKNAV.
Based in Taiwan, ARKNAV, formerly known as Stars Navigation, manufacturer GPS peripherals such as antennas and data loggers/locators and integrated tracking solutions including location based services (LBS) and personal tracking systems.
Las Vegas is a long way to travel from Taiwan - I asked Richard why ARKNAV were exhibiting at CTIA. He said that they are mainly promoting their GPS tracking systems and a new product, G Force Sensor, a vehicle tracker which aims to reduce fleet vehicle maintenance and costs by recording 3D G-force values, corresponding GPS data and monitoring the driver's driving habits.
He added that they sell their products worldwide and are looking to meet global distributors at the show. They supply to both system integrators and service providers.
I asked Richard when he thought that all mobile devices would carry GPS technology. He thought that before this happened there were still problems to overcome with integration such as battery issues.
When asked about the future of the industry in relation to ARKNAV, Richard replied, "The market is still booming. We see the potential for more demand. Our products target niche markets with specially designed functions and features. There will always be demand for high performance and stable systems."
