Prized Locations... and the winner is...
 Navteq continues their series of NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenges, offering a prize pool valued at over $5.5 million US in cash and prizes. Now in its sixth year, the Challenge encourages application developers to build innovative location based services that work with mobile and wireless devices.
They have announced their Americas grand prize winner and three runners-up at an awards ceremony at the CTIA Wireless 2009 Show, Las Vegas.
T+1 Solutions is the Grand Prize Winner receiving a prize package valued at over half a million dollars, including cash, Navteq data licenses and sponsor-donated licenses.
On hearing the news ,their CEO, Raoul Jarvis told PocketGPSWorld.com "I can't believe we won, I am very excited". He explained that their phone application, Taxi4me will get you the best taxi service for your trip, anywhere in the world, circumnavigating language barriers. Local taxi companies confirm availability and make offers. The customer then chooses the best time and price to suit.
Three runners-up were also announced: First Runner-up, Dial Plus Inc; Second Runner-up, Creativity Software; and Third Runner-up, Colombia Games.
Dial Plus's solution enables enhances the standard phone call experience by automatically and simultaneously providing dynamic, contextually relevant visual information about the called or calling party before, during and after the call is over.
Creativity Software’s solution, Rough Guides Mobile Travel Guide, provides a location aware city guide with user generated content and social networking features.
Colombia Games’s solution, ToGetThere, allows people that want to share a ride to create a trustful community that helps save fuel and money by traveling together.
