Was travelling on M25 / M11 today. I was doing 70mph. However my Nuvi 2699 randomly (short spells of time) giving me speeds of 42/23/19 etc. This resulted in Garmin beeps warning as I was doing 70 on the motorway.! These speeds randomly came up at random times whilst on the motorway.

Off the motorway (in 30 mph area) it showed speeds of 12 mph when I was doing 30mph and the obvious warning beeps!

Not sure what has triggered this and how to fix it.

Possibly messed up your feet/mph and metres/kph setting when updating your database with POILoader. There is a pinned thread on the subject just above here. Likely picking up the roads that run along and across the motorway. Re-install the database ensuring the correct selection is made.

Being a newbie, not sure if this is the camera database you mention and not the Garmin maps?

It won't be the Garmin maps.

It's most likely an incorrect setting on PoiLoader.

Try running PoiLoader again, and be sure to select feet/mph (not meters/kph) on the screen where it gives you a choice of these, on a drop-down menu.

When I read the first post I got the impression the Garmin itself is picking up an incorrect speed causing the speed cameras to be triggering.

Is the internal GPS chip failing or getting blocked by something.

Will try it today. Otherwise, as Kremmen suggested, perhaps it is internal chip fault.

Sadly the database update does not seem to work. Will need to buy a new one. What is the nearest option to nuvi 2699 please? I quite like the Drivesmart 65.

I have a DS61 LMTD and am more than happy with it apart from its occasional strange routing (But they all do that)

Is there much difference between 61 and 65?. I assume there is a slot for a sim card?

Also, I read it comes with speed camera warnings. If not, I guess I can insert PocketGPs camera database as I can in 2699?

I don't know as I don't have a 65. Is the 65 purported to have a sim slot? If so, what the hell for.
If it comes with speed cameras, they will be Cyclops ones. You can disable them and install PGPSW if you prefer.

Thanks for this - just what I needed to know. I guess the SD card would be for "extra space if needed".

Also nice to know you can disable the Cyclops cameras - I prefer PGPSW ones.

The likely reason for the map update fail is that Garmin servers are reported to be out.

They've been hacked so have shutdown servers.

That explains not being able to update maps.
