I updated to the latest maps with Express (latest edition) but during the final approx 20 mins something went wrong and the install did not complete. When I checked it said there was 54 mins of map download available, despite previously saying that there were approx 20 mins left. So I thought it would continue where it left off but it then refused to connect. So I stopped and restarted Express only to find that there was no map update available then. On turning on the sat nav it said maps corrupt and and not available.
So now I have corrupt maps and no way to download the latest updates. Any idea how to overcome this problem.
Any help appreciated. |

yes, you'll need to go into the hidden .system folder and delete the gmapprom.img file, which is the map.
To see the hidden .system folder see below, and you might also need to set your device to mass storage mode if you still can't see the .system folder
The .system folder is a hidden folder using the default Folder View Options in Windows. In order to see the .system folder on your device you need to make Folder View Option changes in Windows as follows:
Windows 8 and 10:
1) Open the Control Panel. (Right click on the Windows square in the bottom left of your computer screen. Select Control Panel and click on it.)
2) Inside Control Panel, click on "Appearance and Personalization", then "Folder Options" or “File Explorer Options". This will open the File Explorer Options window.
3) Inside the File Explorer Options window, click on the "view" tab.
Select "Show hidden files, folders, and drives"
Remove check mark for “Hide Empty Drives”
Remove check mark for “Hide protected operating system files” (Recommended)”
Windows 7:
1) Open Windows Explorer and select Organise, Folder and Search Options
2) Click the View tab.
3) Uncheck ‘Hide protected operating system files.
4) Check ‘Show hidden files, folders and drives’
In addition, you may also need to change your device to Mass Storage mode in order for the .system folder to be visible in Windows. You can make this change on your device by following these procedures:
1. Start device by itself and go to Volume Screen.
2. Press the upper right hand corner of screen for 10 seconds.
3. The Developers Screen will pop up
(may see Configuration and Settings, if so select it)
4. Scroll down to MTP SETTINGS
5. Change from AUTO DETECT to MASS STORAGE
6. Shut down the device and connect to PC
7. It should now connect in mass storage mode.
As an alternative to step 1 and 2 above, you can bring up the "trip information" screen by tapping the speed icon, then press and hold the speedometer for about 10 seconds to access the developer screen. Now go from step 3.
Note this assumes you have either the UK map or the Western European map, If you have the full EU map you should also have a folder named Map, delete that also and the files it contains. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Many thanks. Have done as you indicated and got the map to reinstall. Can see the map on device now, so hopefully all is back to normal. |

Following on from the map corruption, I went out today to check if the camera warnings were working. All I got on approach to a camera was a single bong. (Garmin cameras are off). I can see the camera on the map but appear to have lost the voice warning. So I downloaded the latest camera release along with a voice pack and installed it via POI loader which said it had installed a number of POI, but still no voice warnings on a demo run. What have I missed?
Any help appreciated. |

Have you missed putting a correct copy of sox.exe into the folder in which poiloader.exe resides? |

Yes that looks like the problem. Sorted out the folder and got poi loader and sox together and now working as it should.
Many thanks |

But did you not get an error message about the .wav files when you ran POILoader? |

Don't remember getting any warning. It just said it had loaded x number of poi so presumed it was OK, though it obviously wasn't as I found out. |

The WAV error message isn't that prominent from what I remember, easily missed. _________________ DashCam:

Well I tried it just now with sox removed, and I didn't get any sort of error message at all.
Just a .gpi file much smaller than normal.
I tried it both ways - to computer and to device - both with the same result.
In the past I remember it issuing more of a comment rather than any sort of warning or error message.
Just a comment along the lines of Unable to convert .wav files to the proper format.
