I'm looking to upgrade my Garmin PND, but can't decide which is best for traffic updates - Smartphone or Digital.

Any advice would be helpful

Thanks

The -D models can use either ..... unless they've changed it recently

So could you have both connect at the same time?

I don't know about now, but about three years ago, running both at the same time caused the Garmin to hang.

Define "best" Smile

For example, if you're venturing out of the UK, the SmartphoneLink has much wider coverage. (https://www.garmin.com/en-GB/traffic/)

(Either of them are better than the old RDS-based service, which frequently stopped receiving any information.)

My experience of Digital traffic was limited to the Nuvi 3598 - where "M5 is closed, switching to an alternative route" was its favourite catchphrase (even though said road wasn't closed at all).

I use the SmartPhone link with the Zumo on my bike (though "traffic" no longer applies to me then Wink - it gives added benefits, like being able to have Donald Trump's tweets read to me, in the middle of a 90mph bend Confused
