It has been bugging me for a while. I use Camalert without the map as a) it crashes my phone and b) it uses too much data. I have been noticing for a while now that the images presented by the app have burned themselves into my screen. You can't really see the full effect on this picture, but the "menu" button in the top right is there on a white screen as long as the camera descriptions, camera submit button and the blocks for the speed display.

Not so much of a problem to me at the moment, but may make reselling the phone an issue.

How old is the phone and how many hours use ?

This used to be a problem with older PC screens. Is there a way to run with just a black screen because I only use CA via the car system, sound only.

It's an S6 Edge and less than 18 months old. It isn't used every day, maybe half an hour or so when it is used as I use it for specs zones only. It does have a black background as in this pic, but obviously no cameras showing as indoors.

Mine just shows the nearest cameras.

I only do about 1,000 miles a year so hopefully no effect.

You have closed it down? As in stopped it.

I have never seen burn on an LCD or similar, only the old type CRTs (hence screen savers).

I am wondering whether it is still running in the background and showing through.

It may be worth restarting the phone and seeing if the image is still there.

Screen burn is a "feature" OF OLED and AMOLED displays like the ones used in the S6 edge. Google "oled screen burn" or "amoled screen burn" for lots of discussion on it.

It's there every day. Force close, restart, etc. Only see it when the screen has a white display though.

FYI Samsung will fix phone issues including replacing a screen for screen burn, all for free within 24 months of purchase if you can get to a Samsung store Smile

I've had the exact same issue with camalert on my s7 edge.

That's good to know thank you. I will have to see if I can get to the one in Milton Keynes in the run up to December!! I assume just taking my mobile contract in will be the evidence of the phone age?

edit to add: I have dropped Samsung UK a line on Facebook to see what I need to do.
