No sound from Samsung S7 edge

I have installed the pocketgpsworld apps on my Samsung S7 Edge. On start up of Google Maps I get an instruction such as " drive South" an then nothing more for the whole journey. The map works just fine. The only way I have found to use the Sat Nav on my phone is to switch off the phone and reboot it. Then it works perfectly with full instructions and camera warnings.

Can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong because I am sure that I should not have to reboot my phone each time I want the use it as a Sat Nav.

Please clarify. Are you talking about Google maps or CamerAlert on Android as per the section title?

But if it's any consolation (which it won't be), Google maps work just fine on my S7 Edge with no problems at all. I just start it from my home screen and it just works as expected. But I must admit that I haven't tried it with a route as I use my Garmin for navigation and cameras as required. I just look at G maps for traffic flow confirmation (or otherwise) of my Garmin.

Thanks for the comment. I have tried starting Google maps directly and through CamerAlert with the same result. Both give an initial instruction "Head North" for example and then nothing more. I can get it to work sometimes by rebooting the phone.

I installed WAZE today to see if that worked. No problem, absolutely fine! Think I will have to go back to my faithful old TomTom. It has never let me down but it is costing me a fortune in updates!
