WLAN problems with TTN2 on 5450

I have a iPAQ 5450 using TTN2 (standard installation, no upgrades yet). The problem I have is that it installs and runs OK but after a while it locks the WLAN on the iPAQ with iPAQ wireless manager showing 100% signal when no where near a WLAN access point. TTN2 is configured to use COM1, which appears to be the only COM port it will work on. Can anyone help.
