There's been an old style Ford Fiesta driving around the South Bristol area over the last couple of weeks.
No big deal in itself except that this one has what looks like an extending pole on the roof with a camera attached.
It has Traffic Enforcement Vehicle written down the side.
I initially thought it was for parking infringements and general traffic monitoring but I noticed that there is a large speed camera symbol on the bonnet.
Park this in a line of cars and you wouldn't give it a second look.
Are they getting even more sneaky?
Guess its just to catch the Mayor of Bristol speeding again!!

Something like this? If you watch the video in the BBC article linked to from that thread you can see what looks like a speed camera symbol on the side, although it says CCTV underneath. |

We have something similar in Bath & North East Somerset (next door to Bristol), marked as a council vehicle. He happened to stop in my road to do writing or other magic things, so I went and asked what he was doing. He explained that the "Enforcement" marking on the vehicle was because he was filming road markings to check their condition. I didn't form an opinion as to whether or not to believe him. _________________ Dennis

bmuskett - That looks like it, except we're obviously a lot poorer here and cant afford Smart cars.
I like the idea of catching people using mobiles behind the wheel, but I'm not sure I like the comment in the film where they mention being caught running your hands through your hair whilst driving!
What next, switching stations on the radio or even taking my hand off the wheel to change gear!!
If they want to catch people parking on the pavement round here they'll make a killing though.
DennisN - I'd like to believe its for checking road markings, but I'm too cynical and can't believe they'd do that without some way to raise revenue to offset the cost. |

Huh!! You're obviously not so poor you can't afford a mayor with red trousers, who drives over the speed limit on the Portway! _________________ Dennis
