Hi, I have a Start 60, its a long story, but I have the Camper Euro map on the device and the UK map on sd card. I want to exchange these so if I were to change device I could transfer the camper map to a different unit, is it possible? |

Not legally. TomTom licence is for one specific device only. _________________ Dennis

If both maps work on the unit (that is, you can Switch Map from one to the other), then they are both licensed to the device. It isn't relevant that you paid for the map - that is to say, you didn't buy the map, you bought a licence to download that map to a specific device, leastwise, that's the way TomTom apply the rule. So even though you bought and paid for the map, you couldn't transfer it to another device.
If both maps work on the device and you simply want to swap them round, copy the Europe map to computer, then delete it from device and copy UK map to device, then delete UK map from SD card and copy Europe map to SD card.
NOTE the above should only be carried out AFTER you have made a complete backup of the device and SD card before doing anything. _________________ Dennis

Unless you can plead exceptional circumstances with TT Support, any map on the device is tied to that device only. Any maps on a card should be able to be viewed on any device which accepts that card's format.
EDIT - After reading Dennis_N's post above, I qualify my response by saying that I meant that Maps, purchased from TT on a Memory Card are usable on any TT that accepts that type of card. However, If you have simply copied the maps from a device to a memory card yourself, that map is tied to the device it originated on. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

that's not right surely? I have paid almost as much for the map as I did for the unit!! this TT uses the new crap Mydrive so you cannot transfer via pc etc. I was going to pay for the map update for the camper, surely I own the licence so if my Start 60 went tits up and I had to replace it I would be able to install it onto a new unit registered to me? |

I'm afraid that's the way it is.
Something I find myself saying quite frequently to my clients is that big Companies are no longer here to provide a service, they are here to make money. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

We know of cases where TomTom have agreed to transfer a map from one device to another, but it is entirely down to their decision.
You are about the zillionth person to have this complaint and nearly the zillionth to get nowhere with it. _________________ Dennis

Why would they be in business if it were not to make money? If they can make lodsa money without customer service, then why provide it if it is costing more to provide than the revenue that it produces? |

UPDATE< TT customer support gave me the direction so swap maps
1. Connect your Start 60 to computer and login with MyDrive.
2. Open MyDrive and click on "My content"
3. Go below to "My maps" and uninstall both Europe camper and UK maps.
4. After un installing both maps, disconnect your device from computer and then remove "memory card" from your device.
5. Now again connect your device to computer without memory card and login with MyDrive.
6. Open MyDrive and again Go to "My content"
7. Both map will offer to download, select UK map and download it on your device.
8. After downloading UK map, disconnect your Start 60 from computer.
9. Insert memory card in the device
10. Now again connect your device to computer without memory card and login with MyDrive.
11. Open MyDrive and again Go to "My content"
12. Europe map will offer to download and it will auto downloaded to memory card
all done |

And are you able to use the EU camper map in a different device as per your original question? _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

I am not sure,
I have tried it (via a card adapter) it a Renault with RLink, it recognises the map but says its not available for use, so you are probably right, If I get another unit I would have to plead with TT to transfer it |
