IM looking for a device that has as near to the functions as my old TT920 as possible. but NOT a TOM TOM DEVICE. i bought a TT go6000 and its been my most dissapointing purchase ever. Needed one quickly didnt check it out fully so now I have a bit of a white Elephant. MOST ANNOYING is the fact it has no third party POI capabilety. TOM TOM as of the time of this post seem to still not have done any thing IF EVER to resolve this matter. Im at the point now that i wish to get another device and would like to get a some feed back on the best device to buy thats like the TT920 as this was the best out of the 6 devices I have owned including the WHITE ELEPHANT.

PS no TOM TOM models thanks.

Well you need a Garmin then Smile

But what specifically do you need as I'm not familiar with the TT range so have no idea which one is 'like a TT920' Confused

Some of the main features for a Go920 which may be important to the OP (apart from the obvious 'navigation') are:

Medium-sized screen
2D/3D display (2D north 'up' or travel direction 'up')
Itinerary planning
Third party POIs and POI proximity warnings
Europe and US mapping
MP3 music player / text reader
User-selectable colour schemes and car cursors
Manual backup possible
Removeable mount
Fairly good sound quality

Some or all of those (or others) may be important to the questioner.

Well none of the modern Garmins have an MP3 player ... no demand for it apparently.

No user selectable colour schemes either, although plenty of different 'car cursors'

Otherwise most Garmins can manage the remainder Smile

Again many of the newer Garmins allow this, my 2508 for example does.

It has, amongst other features:

custom avoidances
digital traffic
3rd party POIs
accepts PGPSW camera files

cheers sussamb for the feed back i will check out that model. i have a garmin 1490t but i couldnt get individual speed promp warnings and speed cameras from PGPS onto it like my TT 920. So i gave up on it really and the refresh on the map was jerky and sometimes blanked out. Always at a point that I seemed to need it working in cities. But once again thanks.

Well I also have a 1490 and it exhibits none of the problems you seem to have had, maybe it just needed some TLC Smile

But the 2508 is about 4 years younger, 2013 versus 2009, and certainly is snappier than my 1490 Wink

Unfortunately adding third party POI's to SatNav's does often take some additional knowledge usually linked to PC's.

Not always easy but once cracked is well worth the additional effort.
