I want to buy a GPS unit to run the PGPSW camera database off.

I don't want a full navigation device as already have one installed but i do want a device that has direction detection to avoid false warnings.

I already have an old Novus Rider and want something like this but that runs the PGPSW database. I dont want an app, but a separate device.

Any suggestions in the less than £150 price range?

Ideally it would be chargable with internal battery.
Are there any that also have a radar detector as this would also be an advantage.

Thanks.

I would suggest that you buy an old, 2nd hand smartphone from somewhere (ebay?) no need to actually use at as a phone ever, no need to ever put a sim card into it unless you want to display maps as you go.

For about £30 you could be up and running.

Or for £35-£40 you could get one of the 5" Chinese jobs off e-bay. They have some maps included and PGPSW cameras are simple to add in the CONTENT/SPEEDCAM folder. Cameras are directional so no false warnings and if you set it to warn 'only when speeding' and keep to the limits, you won't get any. Can also set it up so if you over speed it will warn you. I have mine set to speed limit +5% before warning sounds, although it can be set in increments of 5%, I guess +10% would suit many people.

If I remember, when I used it once without setting a route it still gave the camera warnings.

If you found you didn't like it you could probably re-sell it at the price you paid. Very Happy [/i]
