I'm looking to replace my slow and ageing tomtom 950 ,
I've looked at the new tomtom Go range but as they don't take 3rd party poi's I have binned that idea,
I have looked at the Go live 1005 but have read that they have battery issues.
tomtom have refurbished Go live 1000 and via live 120 &125 units at the moment , does anyone know which would be the better unit ,
i'm not fussed about European mapping.
any info would be appreciated . |

My 950 spends longer disconnected from traffic than it does showing traffic. I have given up relying on it and now use Waze, Co-pilot and Sygic iPhone apps instead. The traffic shows almost instantly on the apps, I couldn't take any more of the constant server issues at TomTom. |

@ Blush.... If your 950's battery is shot, then that can affect Traffic reception.
I had the same problem with my 940 for months (poor reception of Traffic and other LIVE SErvices) and I had assumed the actual GPRS/SIM card hardware was faulty, but ever since I put a new battery in, the Traffic reception has improved quite dramatically. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

@ gazza70...
Only some of the GO1005's had battery problems. I have two here and the batteries have been fine.
The GO1000 is almost exactly the same as the GO1005 apart from two things....
The screen is smaller on the GO1000 (obviously), but the big problem is the lack of an SD card slot (almost all GO1005's do have one but do check...)
Without the ability to add an SD card for extra memory, you can be restricted in map size on the GO1000 and have to remove the US map or opt for a map "zone" of just part of the Europe map. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

@AndyP, I have ordered a replacement battery to give it a go. As it stands my 950 is terrible at connecting. Thanks for the advice. |
