Hi,

Will the new android update to 4.3 which includes "Bluetooth AVRCP 1.3 support – display song names on a car stereo" Make it easier for devs to make Cameralert send messages to car speakers?

Chrs

I had hoped by now a dev might have answered this question. All i want is for Cameralert to play audio through my audi car speakers.

My phone plays music through them fine, so why can't cameralert do it on the same phone?

I appreciate this is not helpful to you but CA does sound through my car speaker system using a parrot handsfree kit.

The parrot works the same as most bluetooth enabled headunits so it plays media and phone calls through the car speakers.

It works so well that when I have the car full of people I disable the bluetooth so conversation and radio listening is not disturbed by the alerts

I think it must be a setting somewhere that is causing your issue or your headunit is not compatible in some way

Sorry, I thought you were suggesting that we add support for the alert text to be shown on the text-display of the radio.

If you set up your Android phone to use Bluetooth for the media output then this should work.

I have not got Android 4.3 but CamerAlert routes to my Car Stereo, no problem. Are you sure it's not an Audi thing?

Well it could be, Audi's tech seems to be way behind the times tbh, even though this car is 2013 with the latest SD Card based satnav/mmi ;/

I have tried all different settings in android, and in camralert on both an S2 and an S4 and can't seem to get it working at all on either.

My understaning was it was some issue with camralert not being able to access the audio output in android? Which is why i was hopefull that something in the android update would address this.

Laughing Out Loud, i dont believe it! After reading MaFt's comment, i got into the car and tried it again.....it works flawlessly? WTF.

Talk about the X-files....

Well either something has updated somewhere in the background on android....or i missed something which i have subsequently inadvertently changed...either way its now working when Audi music is on either FM radio, or SD card Media, and even turns down the AUDI music volume while camralert sends its messages over the speakers, RESULT!

chrs all.

'Tis a lesson you should heed:
Try, try, try again.
If at first you don't succeed,
Try, try, try again

Very Happy

Glad you got it to work.

Hi Again, having overcome the main hurdle ;) I'm now trying to get a better quality voice than the default female one in cameralert, which comes over speakers in a sort of mono, low khz way.

So i've been trying to find the Camralert folder on my S4 without success. It may be that i need to root the phone to see everything... Can anyone advise?

Is there any chance that high quality voices will be available in the next update of Camralert?

Cos unless i root this S4 (which i dont really wanna do as it invalidates warranty) I cant get em ;)

Also ability to adjust length of time music is turned down while camralert messages are being output to car speakers....

Only asking as now m62 roadworks are now complete, and the 50mph restriction has gone, i dont want 'child in time - deep purple' interupted 12 times as i pass each average speed camera zone, which means i will have to fork out for another yearly sub ;)

They *are* high quality voices. However you're sending them over BT which isn't. Unless we start looking into A2DP streaming etc...

Ah ok i see, so even if i got root access to my S4, and inserted my own soundfiles, they would'nt sound any better? ;/

So is there a chance the route you suggested will be taken up as i have just re-subscribed ;)
